Santa Says is a fun take on that classic game Simon Says that's a great way to end a Christmas party for kids. Be sure to include things that Santa would do such as delivering presents, sliding down the chimney, and reading a Christmas wish list. Santa Says from The Resourceful Mama. Fill a coffee cup or small bowl heaping full of sand, rice, sugar or flour. Place a toothpick topped with a small flag on top. Each player tries to knock out a little sand or whatever the cup is filled with without making the flag fall.
The player who makes the flag fall must bow and concede defeat to the rest of the players. All players sit in a circle. If a player laughs or smiles, he or she is out. Play continues until only one player remains. This game requires a small, fluffy feather, a kleenex or a balloon. All players stand or sit in a close circle. One player throws the feather into the air then blows the feather to keep it in the air. The player that the feather comes closest to does the same, trying to prevent the feather from touching him or her or touching the ground.
If the feather touches a player, that player is out of the game. A player who allows it to touch the floor is also out of the game. The shareware version of Jetpack was a staple of my childhood thanks to its awesome level editor. I could only play the few levels available in the free version, but I spent hours building my own.
The Christmas version just changes out a few graphics and turns you into a jetpack-wearing Santa hunting for presents, but it's still a new set of free levels, and it's still fun. There's a nice layer of snow over everything. It's all very cheery, until you send all your Santa-dressed lemmings plummeting to their deaths. To make it more exciting, sides may be chosen, and each one of the three snowballs numbered, one being 5, the other, 10, and the third, If the ball numbered 5 goes through, it counts 5 for that player's side.
If it does not go through, it is a loss, and so on. The side scoring the most points is victorious. A small tree is placed on a table. The candles are lighted. Blindfold the players, one at a time, turn around three times, and allow each to take five steps toward the tree.
Then he must blow as hard as he can, endeavoring to blow out all the lights, if possible. The one who succeeds in extinguishing the most receives a prize. Another amusement is playing "The night before Christmas" like "Stagecoach. The hostess then reads the well-known story, "The Night Before Christmas. When she mentions Santa Claus, all change places, and she tries to secure a seat.
The one left out continues the story, and so on, until completed.
